Dino d'Santiago — Between Cultures, Atlantic
Dino d'Santiago was born in Portugal to Cape Verdean parents. His music moves between Cape Verde and Lisbon, between kizomba and electronic production, between the Atlantic coast and the interior of a city that has always been a meeting point rather than a fixed identity. He makes music that is not from one place. It is from the space between places.
This is the sound of Lisbon as it actually is — not the fado-and-tiles postcard version, but the layered, diasporic, restlessly contemporary city that has been shaped by five centuries of movement between Africa and Europe, between the Atlantic islands and the mainland. D'Santiago's music carries all of this without labelling it, without explaining it. It asks you to hear it the way a wine asks you to taste it: directly, without mediation.
The Léger Guide exists in this same space — between European wine tradition and the outside perspective that sees it differently. Claudine Léger's identity crosses the same Atlantic: Caribbean, French, Portuguese by adoption. The Guide is not trying to become the European wine establishment. It is trying to map the territory that exists between the established world and the experience of encountering it from outside.
